2004 Volvo XC90 Radiator Removal Replacement Repair
Переглядів 102 тис.10 років тому
Installing a new radiator on my 2004 Volvo XC90. It is not hard to do, just a ton of stuff to remove to actually get to the radiator. And yes, the radiator DOES come out through the bottom of the vehicle. Look in your owner's manual for the proper coolant type and quantity needed for your system. Mine was 2 gallons (50/50 mix coolant to water), with HOAT compatible coolant. I went with one gall...
2006 Ford Explorer 4.0 4.6 V6 Harmonic Balancer Replacement
Переглядів 344 тис.10 років тому
Helping a friend out, the belt originally came off. After further inspection the harmonic balancer had failed and needed to be replaced. Not uncommon with the 4L Fords. A good sign is the belt sequels and jumps around, along with the balancer looking chewed up. Thanks for watching!

2004 Volvo XC90 2.5T FWD A/C Clutch Shim Repair
Переглядів 60 тис.10 років тому
Here is some video of me repairing my clutch on my 2004 Volvo XC90 2.5T FWD A/C compressor. The common symptom is the A/C system warming up instead of cooling. When you turn the A/C system off (either by HVAC control switch or turning the vehicle off) the clutch and compressor cool down, and begins to work the next time you use the A/C system. Also, when the A/C systems begins to blow warm air,...
2004 Volvo XC90 - Bulb Failure Day Running Lamp
Переглядів 49 тис.10 років тому
Replacing a daytime running lamp bulb due to failure. This is usually indicated by a warning message in the information center located in the gauge cluster. It's not critical to replace these bulbs, but there is nothing worse than seeing a nice car with a busted light :)

You are so right. People get vehicles and just dog them out and not take care of them very sad and then the results is a vehicle that need a thousand things fixed because previously owners didn't do the basics Maintenance on then.SMH

Excellent video: informative and concise.👌 A friend borrowed my 2001 and PRIED the ashtray open and broke the little “push to open/push to close” toggle lever . Ugh! So now it won’t stay closed. I’ll have to remove the upper cowel, then the entire ashtray assy to attempt a fix. Thanks for the help.🙏👍😉

If you know for sure you have the correct replacement, disconnect battery + terminal, cut the wires to the O2 sensor, then use a deep well 7/8" socket and probably a breaker bar. Might also try to spray some liquid wrench to soak in to the threads.

Thanks for posting this. Just coming into summer here in Australia and my motor died and I cannot face another monthly mechanics bill for my XC90 😅 Two builds though; 1. I had to pull at the panel holding the footwell light so much i found it better to remove the light and replace after. 2. Refitting the unit was a real pain, just couldn’t get it to seat by hand. Until I decided to start tightening up the fasteners and then noticed it suddenly pulled itself into alignment.

Just to let everyone know itIS NOT A LEFT HAND THREADED BOLT!! i broke my bolt off thinking it was left handed while watching this video and I looked closely at the bolt in video and its STANDARD THREADED also. It cost me several days traveling to a different city where car broke down to fix the broken BROKEN STANDARD BOLT i had been tightening the crap out of til it broke.😡

Hands down, these Volvos are the worst in car design. I owned and maintained Range Rover, Lotus Esprit, Toyota Land Cruiser, Mazda MX6 and other cars over the years and did basic maintenance on the driveway, but these Volvos are such the PITA, it's almost criminal that they sell them in the USA. I am driving one of these 2004 edition temporarily, and I find so many design flaws in this car, and to make it worse, I have to maintain while it's in my possession, and it infuriates me that one has to do what this guy is doing just to change a tail light. And it so happens that I have to replace a burnt out tail light now, with loads of equipment in the cargo space! AARRRGGGHHHH!!! It's just stupid to buy a Volvo.

I just did this this job ended up being a bit of a nightmare. The puller bolts were to short and needed 8mmx1.25x90mm or 100mm long. After installing the dorman harmonic balancer I started getting misfire codes P0300 P0303 p0304. I changed out the crank sensor and spark plugs. I ended up pulling the balancer back off and found that the pickup teeth for the sensor were bent on the new balancer. Make sure to check your new one before install. I just wanted to share this info for others.

On mine the button broke but now that I saw how that comes apart, I hope that I can get it into park. Off to E Bay and order another shifter. Mine is an 06 with just about 200,000 miles and the plastic bits are starting to become brittle. I will check back after I get the part. I was kind of hoping there would be a manual override, but no such luck. Thanks for the video.

@@ItchyKneeSon Wellllllllll. It did it again and I put in another shifter and still no go. After watching a few videos, I found one young lady who had the same problem and she showed how to partially disassemble the shifter cover and on the drivers side is a small white tab that you push down and it releases until you put it in park again. I haven't had time to dig to far into it because the weather has been crappy so I am using my winter beater Buick LaCross (I didn't realize how low a regular car sits as I am so used to the Volvo) but the weather is finally supposed to get warmer (I am in BFE Montana). I am thinking along the lines of an electrical issue because the shift lever button works, but I need to go through the service manual to see if it offers a clue.

Thanks for the video. We have 2004 XC90, blower when out. 12 hrs later (had to wait on UPS 4 hrs) blowing colder than it has in years. I must be worth $2,000 day (Volvos quote to replace blower motor) Spend $154 new housing, motor and resistor. Did remove passenger seat and carpet. Cleaned everything while waiting. ANY WAY Thanks for taking the time to make the video.

So many times when I watch these videos, the mechanic is in such a tight place all you can see is a close up of the bolt (especially a job like this) so all you really learn is which way to turn the bolt, but you actually did good moving back a bit for a better example. Only suggestion I have is your common complaint of "working with 1 hand" and the best way to fix that, is find a set of Google glasses.

So I took the switch panel off on the armrest and fiddled with the wires and it went up! Which is the most important thing because it supposed to storm tonight!
